A practice to remember your parents
Lately, I have been wanting to feel close to my late parents and this practice from Vietnamese zen master Thich Nhat Hanh has really helped me to do so.
It’s also very useful if you can’t be close to yours at the moment because of current COVID-19 restrictions.
Do you remember when you were a little girl or boy and you were sick? Your Mum or Dad would rest their hand on your forehead and maybe you would feel a deep sense of peace, love and nurture.
Even if your parents are not close to you in this world or, sadly no longer in their body like mine, you can still feel them close through this practice.
Look at your own hand and imagine the hand of your Mother or Father resting in yours.
Feel the shape, temperature and energy of her or his hand resting in your hand..feel it...
Now place your hand on your forehead and feel their love and nurture.
Embody that feeling of peace you felt when they were there with you, supporting you.
Allow it to permeate through every cell of your body.
Although they are not with you today you can still feel as though they are.
Om Shanti xx
