Why veganism is not a diet

Veganism is not a diet. It’s finally understanding that your actions are actively harming other living beings and then taking a vow so to never do it again.

It’s not a fad, cool or a way to lose weight or even be healthy. It’s living aligned with your inherent non-violent, peaceful Self. It’s important to check in with what it is that stops you from living like this.

For me, veganism is compassion in its truest form. Acknowledging that other living beings (animal people) are suffering because of my actions and actively taking steps to alleviate that suffering.

The measure of your character is not whether you would act to ease the suffering of those you love: your children, family, friends. Of course you would given the chance. It’s whether you would act to ease the suffering of those beings (animals and humans) you don’t know very well or haven’t ever met and never will - all for the greater good of peace, love and unity.

I chose to be vegan because by easing the suffering of others, ultimately I ease my own.

And I’ve suffered enough. Haven’t you?

Go vegan. Because it’s all love. We are all loving beings...just in different bodies, with different faces and different labels. That doesn’t make us seperate. Choose to see the one-ness.

P.S Goodness, this is me writing before reading Sharon Gannon’s new book “Yoga and Veganism.
